First lots of holes where drilled into a 12 inch wide piece of pine which was made from 2  pieces biscuit jointed together

Then a fancy edge was routered  onto the shiedl shape

Then it all had to sanded as smooth as a ...........

well you know what.

It can be stained or painted or just sealed.
